As boring as Saturday was, I’m going to do it again for some other home games this season. One of the guys there said they’ll pay me and hey, I’ll put wristbands on rich, drunk Saint Louisans a couple nights a month for $50. No problem there. The merchh guy gave me three free shirts today, too, so I must be doing something right.
We’re working our way through rewriting the entire middle section of our guard show. It needed to be done, but I hate rewriting. Nothing throws me off quicker and easier than changing an entire minute of something that I’ve had memorised since December. I don’t like feeling like I don’t know things. There’s also the issue of this Saturday potentially being my last guard competition ever. We don’t know for sure, and we won’t know until after break, but state championships might be cancelled. I would be so absolutely heartbroken if Saturday ends up being a bad run and that’s the last show I ever perform. I’m overthinking this, and I know it, I just can’t stop worrying about it. Today was just a bad practice day. I need to chill about it.
I’m leaving for Colorado on Saturday. I can’t wait. I used to hate the drive (~13 hours, we split it into 2 days), but honestly, I kinda love it now. It gives me time to nap and read and listen to music and watch movies. I also have an excuse to eat awful food since fast food and gas station food are our only options. Kansas is a little boring, but it’s cool to see how absolutely massive the great plains are. All you can see is miles and miles of corn or grain and massive windfarms and oil pumpjacks and cows. It’s peaceful. The best part is when it rains. As a kid I was afraid whenever it rained in Kansas because I assumed that meant that there would be a tornado (the Wizard of Oz is in Kansas and there’s a tornado), but I love it now.
