Our first guard competition was on Saturday. I’m every kind of tired right now, but I’m at school anyway. We got scored super low. I can’t really speak for my teammates, but I had a pretty good run. I dropped my rifle once, but that’s whatever, we shouldn’t have gotten a 53. The judges apparently scored us low in equipment and show design, which is interesting. Our show design is a lot more intricate than a lot of guards we competed against. It’s fine, we have a lot more competitions, this isn’t the end of the world. We’re going to work a lot on filling in work this week, so hopefully that will help our equipment scores. It’s kind of weird to think that this was my last first guard competition. I’m excited to go to Indy this weekend, hopefully we do better there than we did on Saturday. The photos turned out really cool. I don’t have a ton, but the ones I got are decent. My favorite is the one at the very end of me cartwheeling over my teammate. It’s really fun. The photos this year are much more spread out across the team compared to last year. Last year, they were almost all of the same two people every show. That’s because the show was all about them, but I’ve already complained about that enough for one year. I’m just excited to not have practices during the week. Taking a nap after school would be awesome.
